on the fringes of a white sheet of paper

a bit of color bubbles forth

and bursts

leavings shreds of sorrow in accustomed hearts.



thought is tired

explanations have dried,

receding desire laps on the empty shore.



i await in silence in the dark -

in a forgiving numbness

hands grow out of the soil

taking forms of known hearts and eyes

with smiles draped in a saree

raised to the knees.
